Ten Coffee Hacks to get you through the day

Simple but effective, ten coffee hacks!

We provide some excellent coffee hacks to help you get most out of your coffee experience, whether it’s to improve the flavour of your coffee or advice for repurposing your leftover coffee grounds.

To lessen the bitterness, add salt.

While we don’t advise doing so, it has been scientifically shown that adding salt will lessen the bitterness of your coffee. This is more because it changes your taste buds than because it changes the coffee in any way. By reducing the bitterness, the salt will help you enjoy the coffee more. Naturally, since you don’t want to needlessly increase your salt intake, we don’t recommend using this hack frequently, but it might help you tolerate that cup of coffee you were looking forward to. It only may need a small pinch of salt.

Freeze Any Remaining Coffee

Grab an ice cube tray and make coffee ice cubes if you’ve just made a pot of coffee and have some leftovers. These are great for iced coffee because they don’t dilute it as conventional ice does.

Froth the milk with your cafetiere.

That’s accurate. After brewing your coffee in the cafetiere, add your warm milk and swiftly plunge a few times to get foamy milk that is ideal for a latte. Best of the ten coffee hacks!

Enhance Your Coffee

Add your preferred spices, such cinnamon or nutmeg, to the coffee grounds before brewing to make an infusion that will enhance the flavour of your coffee and serve as a healthy substitute for sugar.

Additionally, you can flavour your coffee beans with your preferred flavours. Simply taste your beans before brewing by adding flavours, such as chocolate or lemon zest, rather than adding additional ingredients to the cup.

Utilise leftover coffee grounds to feed your plants

Did you know that using coffee grounds on plants is a terrific idea. Simply place them at the base of the plant on top of the soil to provide it with the zinc and potassium it so desperately needs. With crops like tomatoes, carrots, and beets, it will also increase your fruit and vegetable harvest.

You can use leftover grounds in a variety of different ways, too, like as a skin exfoliant or a flea repellent.

Utilise Eggshells to Lower Acidity

It’s true! The thing that is going around is a TikTok hack. The idea is to put the eggshells to your coffee grinds prior to brewing, rather than drinking them. Why, though, does it lessen the acidity? The PH of coffee is approximately 7. 5 indicates that the substance is at the acidic end of the PH scale. Eggshells are more alkaline because they contain calcium carbonate and have a PH above seven. This aids in balancing the coffee’s acidity.

How to Better Plan Your Coffee Break

Did you know that at roughly 7 a.m., noon, and 6 p.m., your body naturally creates cortisol to give you more energy? It follows that drinking coffee will provide you an energy boost. Why not schedule your coffee breaks during these periods of the day when this stress hormone naturally declines? Typically, this occurs from 9.30 to 11.30 am and from 1.30 to 5 pm. Therefore, during these times, your body will appreciate the extra boost the cup of coffee provided.

Utilise coffee when baking

Coffee aficionados can use their leftover coffee for the water and add their preferred flavour to cakes and cookies!

Boost Coffee’s Effect with Grapefruit

With the aid of some grapefruit, you can prolong the effects of coffee. The fruit’s beneficial fat will aid in reducing the rate of caffeine absorption. Half a grapefruit and your morning coffee will keep you alert for the remainder of the morning.

Divide the Volume

Drink a few smaller cups of coffee throughout the morning rather than one large cup first thing. By doing this, you will consistently receive the same amount of caffeine, which will keep you awake and attentive for longer.

When it comes to coffee hacks, these are really the tip of the iceberg; we could go on all day. We have instead chosen a few of our favourite. We would be interested in hearing any that you would like to add to the list.
